“Steve Austin, astronaut. A man barely alive. Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world’s first bionic man. Steve Austin will be that man. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster.”… awesome!
Fiction that will never happen? Don’t be so sure.
1. The bionic Video Eye
Taken from this Sydney Morning Herald article: “When Canadian filmmaker Rob Spence decided to have his badly damaged eye removed from its socket, he chose to replace it not with a prosthetic, but with a wireless camera. The decision, he says, was easy.
”Every person I know who’s lost an eye immediately thinks, ‘I should think about getting a camera,’ ” he says. Although so far, Spence is the only person who has actually acted on the notion.”
Maybe a tiny bit on the freaky side, but pretty cool.
2. Prosthetic Limbs
Check out this incredible video of what prosthetic limbs can do these days.
3. Superhuman Strength
Yeah, figures you’d trip me up on this one huh. Wrong. All you need is this guys book and CD collection, and you too can have hair like this (in fact, not too far removed from the 6 Million Dollar Man’s haircut if I’m honest), and do press ups on 2 fingers…
Website link here for those of you interested in pursuing this particular path to superhuman strength.
