Recently on a trip to New York, we had a chance to swing across the bridge to Brooklyn and check out the Brooklyn Flea. Wow am I glad we did. We discovered a whole world of people who are casting aside the trappings of the digital age, and returning to a time when things worked differently, less efficiently and less effectively.
… but much more beautifully, with an emphasis on the mechanical, rather than the electric.
One such example are Brady&Kawalksi typewriters. Check these out!
… and they even have a pic of me using one of their machines at the flea market.
You can find them on facebook here, and you can buy their excellent typewriters here and of course they have a fab little website where you can learn about how to look after your little piece of history!
I love that people care about stuff like this.

Caspar,
You came to Brooklyn and didn’t look me up. For shame!

Caspar, there even has been created music to these old typewriters, it claps, claps, claps and has always a dingdong at sliding to the next line…
You were at the Brooklyn Flea – in my hood! Hope you’re well! Steph
